10-21-20 fdl county budget

The Fond du Lac County Board is getting it’s first look at the proposed 2021 budget.   County executive Al  Buechel presented the budget at Tuesday night’s meeting.   Buechel  says sales tax revenue is up  a little more than two percent.  County Board chairman Marty Farrell says the good news is the county is not in bad shape financially given the pandemic the county has had to deal with.   Farrell says the county will actually see a slight reduction in the tax rate.   For the first time in 20 years the county will be hiring three new Sheriff’s patrol deputies with help from a federal COPS grant.   The County has also made an offer to purchase more than 20 acres of land,  including a portion of the Niagra Escarpment for a conservancy.
