6-5-20 wisconsin department of revenue secretary says there is a “light at the end of the tunnel”

The secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Revenue says there is a “light at the end of the tunnel.”   Secretary Peter Barca was responding to a new report that projects wages and personal income levels will rebound next year.  But Barca says the economic recovery is contingent on a second wave of the coronavirus not occurring.   He says that’s why it’s important for residents to continue safe practices, including social distancing and frequent hand washing.  “Just those simple but very vital steps can make a huge difference in not only protecting your health, but protecting the economy,”  Barca told AM 1170s Between the Lines program.   “If there’s a resurgence in the fall it could mean trillions of dollars throughout the world to the economy.”   Meanwhile,  Barca says the state is still hoping the federal government passes another relief bill that would provide aid to states and local governments.
