2-11-20 wisconsin legislature-lame duck settlements

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Legislature’s Republican-controlled finance committee is expected to discuss settling three lawsuits with Democratic Attorney General Josh Kaul, suggesting the two camps may have resolved a dispute over how to settle cases. The GOP passed a law during a 2018 lame-duck session that requires Kaul to get the committee’s permission before signing any lawsuits. Kaul has refused to discuss any cases with the committee citing litigants’ confidentiality. The committee announced Monday that it will meet with Kaul on Wednesday to discuss settling three cases.
