3-20-19 aaa self driving car survey

A year after a number of high profile automated vehicle incidents, American attitudes toward fully self-driving cars have not rebounded.  AAA’s annual automated vehicle survey found that 71 percent of people are afraid to ride in fully self driving vehicles.   State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmuscz says the technology is evolving on a very public stage and as a result is affecting how consumers feel about it.  He says having the opportunity  to interact with the technology will help remove some of the mystery for consumers and open the door for greater acceptance.  The survey found 53 percent are comfortable with  low-speed, short distance transportation,  like airport shuttles, or at them parks.    He says  the first fully automated vehicles on highways may be commercial carriers.
