5-18-18 sports gambling

A Wisconsin based anti-gambling  group says legalized sports betting in Wisconsin would increase crime and contribute to the destruction of families.    The U.S. Supreme Court this week overturned a federal  law that prevents states from sanctioning and promoting sports gambling.  Executive director of the Wisconsin-based Citizens Aginst Expanded Gambling, Lorrie Pickens says the gambling business model depends on players playing to  extinction.  “The bigger concern is the state government.  They’re a complicit partner in the gambling industry,”  Pickens told AM 1170s Between the Lines program.  “Government’s primary responsibility is to protect its citizens.  In order for government to win in this scenario citizens must lose.”    Pickens says sports better is especially appealing and dangerous for kids.  Pickens says state-sanctioned gambling is a sign of failed leadership.
