The public is invited to attend an information meeting Thursday night on a proposed Highway 23 expansion project between Fond du Lac and Plymouth. The meeting hosted by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be held from 5pm to 7pm at UW Fond du Lac. County executive Al Buechel says the project will involve widening the highway to four lanes and adding new interchanges at three Fond du Lac County intersections. The meeting will discuss efforts to prepare a new limited scope supplemental Environmental Impact Statement to address concerns raised in a federal lawsuit. Nineteen million dollars was included in the state budget and Buechel says construction could begin in a couple of years if the federal court okays the amended EIS.
