A Republican state lawmaker from Markesan says she thinks a proposed new fee on electric vehicles is fair. The new fee would amount to about $100 a year. The fee and around $400 million in borrowing would pay for roads as Republican lawmakers try to reach a compromise to break a budget impasse. State representative Joan Ballweg she thinks its fair that owners of electric vehicles be asked to help pay for roads, just like those who fill up at the gas pump.
