8-23-17 democratic lawmaker says foxconn deal too risky

A Democratic state lawmaker from Oshkosh says he hopes the Foxconn deal works out…but he doubts the company will deliver.  State representative Gordon Hintz voted against the $3 billion tax break package last week.  Hintz says it’s a pretty risky proposition given the cost.  “That would take a quarter century for taxpayers to get their money back,”  Hintz told WFDL news.  Hintz says the deal includes no conditions or guarantees on jobs.  Hintz says its unrealistic to think FoxConn is going to invest $10 billion in Wisconsin when they have already pledged to invest five billion in India and  13 billion in China within the last year.  “That amount of investment would be more than they (Foxconn) have made in the last 23 years.  So tell me this…who is not going to get their plant?”  Hintz says he’s skeptical of claims by the governor that there will be 13,000 new jobs created in the next two and a half years.
