7-3-17 nfdl ambulance starts non-emergency patient transports

Beginning Monday, the North Fond du Lac Fire Department will be providing non-emergency patient transports.   Lieutenant of EMS Operations Adam Moriarty says those are  patients being released from either a hospital to a nursing home or to another hospital for additional specialty care services. Moriarty says the transport service will use  the department’s backup  ambulance and will not impact emergency 911 service in the village or the surrounding townships covered by the primary ambulance.   The transport ambulance will be staffed at the Advanced EMT level and will initially operate weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with service expanding based on demand. Funding will be provided through transport fees.  The department is hiring an additional six part-time EMTs to  operate the transport service.
