6-30-17 marian university veteran of the month

Zach Berndt was selected as Marian University’s Veteran of the Month for June.  Berndt has served in the Army National Guard for the past 10 years. During his service, Berndt has taken every opportunity to serve his country, including attending trainings and schools, and was deployed to Afghanistan. Berndt strives to live the Army core values every day, and brings that passion throughout his job and his role as husband and father to his wife, Aymee, and four children.   “Serving your country is a sacrifice,” said Berndt. “But it’s a sacrifice that offers you many opportunities. Life is going to throw you curve balls, and the military taught me to pick myself back up and keep pushing for something better, for my country and my family.”    The Veteran of the Month contest, presented by Marian University and Sunny 97.7/96.1 WTCX, highlights one area veteran each month. Each veteran chosen receives a plaque, an appreciation package from Marian University and Sunny 97.7’s sponsors, including a 3 credit undergraduate class which can be redeemed in the traditional undergraduate program or any of adult undergraduate sessions. In addition, recipients are honored with a ceremony at Marian University, and have the opportunity to share their story on the radio.   Deserving veterans may be nominated by visiting www.sunny977.com. Marian University will select one veteran at the end of each month.
