4-25-17 marian university veteran of the month

Stephen Pepper was selected as Marian University’s Veteran of the Month for March.  Pepper served in the Army and Army National Guard from 1983-2012, where he served as a military policeman and investigator, battalion supply sergeant, and readiness NCO.   Pepper serves as the student veteran specialist at Moraine Park Technical College. He also serves as an executive board member and treasurer for the Marian University Student Veterans Organization, and as Chief of Staff for the Wisconsin Veteran of Foreign Wars. Pepper served as Post Commander for the Fond du Lac VFW, past quartermaster of the VFW in Madison, and president of Moraine Park Technical College’s Student Veteran Association while he was a student.    “This award is such an honor,” said Pepper. “It truly is a pleasure to work with area veterans and give back to the community. I enjoy reaching out to local veterans to help them better understand their benefits, while supporting them through their transition to civilian life.”     The Veteran of the Month contest, presented by Marian University and Sunny 97.7/96.1 WTCX, highlights one area veteran each month. Each veteran chosen receives a plaque, an appreciation package from Marian University and Sunny 97.7’s sponsors, including a 3 credit undergraduate class which can be redeemed in the traditional undergraduate program or any of adult undergraduate sessions. In addition, recipients are honored with a ceremony at Marian University, and have the opportunity to share their story on the radio.   Deserving veterans may be nominated by visiting www.sunny977.com. Marian University will select one veteran at the end of each month.
