4-20-17 tornado awareness week

A National Weather Service meteorologist says its not a question of if we will have a violent storm, it’s a matter of when.  This is Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week in Wisconsin.  National Weather Service meteorologist Sean Miller says Wisconsin averages 23 tornadoes annually.  Miller says last year there were 16 tornado touchdowns in the state.  Miller says contrary to what some people believe, bodies of water such as Lake Winnebago or even Lake Michigan do not protect the area from tornadoes.  Miller says the National Weather Service continues to refine and narrow the area affected by a tornado warning as technology for tracking the storm improves.
