3-29-17 republican state senator questions provision in state budget regarding education funding

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Republican state senator is questioning why Gov. Scott Walker tied an increase in K-12 education funding to compliance with the law known as Act 10. Sen.  Luther Olsen asked Walker’s budget director Tuesday at a public hearing about the budget provision. One part of the Act 10 law passed in 2011 required public workers to contribute more for health insurance costs. Olsen says he was trying to understand the logic of requiring schools to be in full compliance with the law to get more funding.
