2-7-17 salvation army red kettle campaign

Salvation Army Group“When we need help and ask, help comes,” Salvation Army Captain Steven Wilson said. “ The warming shelter opened Nov. 1. The Red Kettles appeared three short days afterword.  Two tremendous efforts and opportunities to give, offered virtuously simultaneously.   We accomplished both with the help of Fond du Lac County’s compassionate hearts.”   When news came in spring that Fond du Lac was in need of a warming shelter, The Salvation Army of Fond du Lac County stepped in to help.  Amber Bose was named Shelter Manager.   Just days after the shelter opened, The Salvation Army launched the 2016 Red Kettle Campaign, asking community for $160,000 to fund help for 2017. Advisory Board members Scott Richter, Joe Moore, Dawn Mueller-Stacey, Community Resource and Development Director Connie Millard, Co-Kettle Coordinators Captain Steven Wilson and Danita Legler, and Mini Counter Kettle Coordinator John Pelletier led the effort.    The end result:  The Red Kettle Campaign raised $166,186.54, exceeding its $160,000 goal.   This year’s top Red Kettle location:  Pick ‘N Save Pioneer ($15,282).  Top “mini” counter kettle location: Kitz and Pfeil True Value Hardware ($444).
