A Fond du Lac city councilmember says he is excited about recommendations from a downtown Fond du Lac exploratory committee. Among the recommendations is targeting a blighted building for redevelopment into a downtown indoor market. While some downtown businesses may see more retail shops as competition, councilmember Brian Kolstad says an indoor market and distillery-brewpub may actually draw more people downtown. While many indoor markets are located in larger cities, Kolstad says he thinks if its done right the concept could work in Fond du Lac. The 17 member exploratory committee completed its work this month and will present their report and recommendations to the city council this month.
