The Fond du Lac County executive has vetoed a pay raise for the position. County executive Al Buechel vetoed the resolution that would have given the position a one percent increase in the first and second years and one and a half percent for the third and fourth years of the term. That’s the same increase that the county board approved earlier this year for the elected positions of Register of Deeds, Clerk and Treasurer. “I felt that even one percent (salary increase) can’t be guaranteed to my county employees and I don’t believe the county executive ought to be having a bigger increase than the county employees,” Buechel told WFDL news. The board has an opportunity to override the veto when they vote on the question again next month.
