3-25-16 oshkosh sisters killed in i-41 crash

A tragic day on Washington County roadways as three people were killed in two separate traffic accidents Thursday.  The first was a head-on crash involving a southbound semi-tractor trailer and northbound van on Interstate 41 near County Trunk K in the Town of Hartford.  The Washington County Sheriff’s Department says the van, driven by a 24 year old Oshkosh woman, crossed over the median and collided with the semi.  The Oshkosh woman and a passenger, her 15 year old sister of Oshkosh, were pronounced dead at the scene.  The semi driver was not injured.  Investigators believe that the van was traveling too fast for the road conditions which had snow and scattered slippery spots.  The second fatal crash was a two vehicle accident on County Highway K near Hall Road in the Town of Hartford.  The Sheriff’s Department says a southbound vehicle driven by a 23 year old Menomonee Falls man was negotiating a curve in the roadway, when the operator lost control, crossed the center line sliding sideways into the northbound lane, where his vehicle was ‘T-boned’ by a vehicle driven by a 71 year old Hartford woman.  The Menomonee Falls man was killed.  The Hartford woman suffered minor injuries.  Weather and snowy road conditions appear to be contributing factors in the crash.  Both accidents remain under investigation.
